There are four ways to join our Post.  Check the requirements below to see which one is for you. 

At this time we ARE accepting Social Applications!!!



AMERICAN LEGION ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for The American Legion, a man or woman must have served at least one day of active duty in one of the armed forces of the United States during one of the following eligibility eras.



  World War I

                                                     - April 6, 1917 to November 11, 1918

  • World War II
  •  
  • - December 7, 1941 to December 31, 1946

  • SPECIAL NOTE
  •  
  •  - Merchant Marines - December 7, 1941 to August 15, 1945

  • Korea
  •  
  • - June 25, 1950 to January 31, 1955

  • Vietnam
  •  
  • - February 28, 1961 to May 7, 1975

  • Lebanon & Grenada
  •  
  • - August 24, 1982 to July 31, 1984

  • Panama
  •  
  • - December 20, 1989 to January 31, 1990
  •  
  •  
  • Persian Gulf
    - August 2, 1990 until cessation of hostilities as determined by the United States Government (NOTE: this means that all military personnel now on active duty are eligible for membership in The American Legion).

     

    Sons of the American Legion Eligibility

    To be eligible, you must be a male descendant (includes stepsons and adopted sons) of a member of The American Legion. You would also be eligible to join the Sons of The American Legion if you are the male descendant (stepsons and adopted sons included) of a veteran who died in service during World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, Lebanon, Grenada, Panama, or the Persian Gulf War (see specific time periods for service during these conflicts). You would also be eligible to join the Sons of The American Legion if you are the male descendant (stepsons and adopted sons included) of a veteran who died subsequent to his or her honorable discharge from service in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, Lebanon, Grenada, Panama, or the Persian Gulf War Anyone interested in becoming an SAL member must complete an application, which can be obtained from the American Legion, and submit it with the veterans DD214, honorable discharge paperwork, or their current membership card of the American Legion along with $17 to cover the first years membership dues.     American Legion Ladies Auxiliary

    A woman who is eligible for membership in The American Legion is also eligible to join the American Legion Auxiliary. Yearly dues are $16.00

    The mother, wife, daughter, sister, grand-daughter, great-grand-daughter, or grandmother of members of The American Legion, and deceased veterans who served in the United States Armed Forces during the listed war eras.

    Step relatives are also eligible. (See red text above for eligibility dates)

     

    SOCIAL MEMBERS

    People who want to join as Social Members need to be
    sponsored by a current regular member of Post 403 who is in good
    standing. If you do not know a regular member of our post,
    email us for an appointment to meet one of our officers and discuss the application process. This only takes a few moments and will get you familiar with our Post and what we are about. Such persons need to fill-out a Social Membership Application and submit it to our Post with a check for $25.00 to cover the first year's
    dues. Persons submitting applications to become Social Members are voted on
    at the next Home Association meeting (the fourth Wednesday of each month).
    If accepted, the $25.00 check is deposited and a membership and key card
    (to get in the door) is mailed to the applicant. If rejected, the $25.00
    check is returned to the applicant.
